Awards scheme roads warning

Drivers and riders were warned yesterday to take care this weekend as dozens of youngsters take to the roads as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Awards scheme.

A spokeswoman for the awards said young people would be completing the adventurous journeys section of the programme from Friday to Sunday.

She added: “Participants will covering the entire span of the island by hiking and biking on Bermuda's roads and railway trails.

“For everyone's safety, we ask the motoring public to please use extra caution when driving, especially in inclement weather.”
