Warwick man banned from roads

A man was banned from driving for 18 months after driving under the influence

A 41-year-old Warwick man was fined and banned from the road for 18 months today for driving under the influence.

Shay Stafford admitted driving on May 1 while the proportion of alcohol in his blood exceeded the legal limit in Sandys.

Magistrates’ Court heard how police responded to a report of a single vehicle crash near Sound View Road and on arrival discovered a white motorcycle in the road with scrape marks nearby.

They saw Stafford laying on a porch and, after observing him, arrested him on suspicion of driving while impaired.

A breath test confirmed he was over the legal limit.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo fined him $1,200 and banned him from the road for 18 months.
