Made in Bermuda Nights will bring live island music to Hamilton Harbour’s White’s Island this week.

And a total of eight restaurants are to celebrate the event with special menus.

The restaurants will offer special Bermuda-themed menus on Thursday evenings throughout the summer starting on Thursday.

Chris Garland of the restaurant division of the Chamber of Commerce said: “We have done this in the past and the Restaurant Weeks in Bermuda have provided a sound stepping board to understand that these initiatives work.”

The Made in Bermuda event will feature live music on White’s Island every Thursday.

The Bermuda Tourism Authority said people can enjoy a meal in Hamilton and then catch the shuttle to White’s Island before the entertainment starts at 9pm.

Restaurants involved in the promotion are Flanagans, Tapas Club, Angelo’s Bistro, Portofino, Muse, Lost in the Triangle and The Terrace, all in Hamilton, and Divots in Warwick.

The Made in Bermuda series is a collaboration between the BTA, PinkSand Entertainment and Goslings with sponsorship from JetBlue.

Guests will be shuttled between #1 Dock and White’s Island on the Uber Vida, enjoy an open bar and listen to music by local artists.

Tashae Thompson, BTA culture and leisure events manager, added that JetBlue will offer two free flights to Boston or New York every week as part of the promotion.

One ticket will go to a passenger on the first shuttle and the second will go to a diner at one of the restaurants offering Made in Bermuda Night deals who brings their receipt to the boat.

Jonathan Tankard of PinkSand Entertainment said the series will build to the third annual Made in Bermuda festival this August.

Mr Tankard said: “Our mission is to increase the quantity and quality of live music entertainment in Bermuda and a the same time provide additional opportunities for local musicians and artists.

“We are proud this year to have the Wall Street Band joining us for Made in Bermuda Nights each week.

“This is a band filled with some of the most world-renowned musicians on the island and they are ready and primed to give us a great show every week.”

The band will be joined by a rotating list of local performers including Live Wires, Sheila Smith, Fusion, Verlencia Aberdeen and Jay Blac.

Pat Phillip-Fairn of the BTA said visitors were interested in opportunities to meet Bermudians in unique settings and the concert series seemed to be a perfect fit.

She said: “Made in Bermuda Nights will use White’s Island, a venue that shows the best of Bermuda. It’s a unique setting, it’s outdoors and it’s along the water.

“It’s exactly the type of experience out visitors say they want out of island nightlife.”

Tickets for the weekly event are available at ptix.bm or at the shuttle, which will leave Hamilton Harbour near Number 1 Shed every 20 minutes starting at 8.30pm.
