Fashion festivities set for Saturday

The City of Hamilton’s Bermuda Fashion Festival, now in its ninth year, is hosting weeklong events in which three fashion shows of designers, salons, retailers and models are displayed.

This Saturday, the final day of the festival, local designers will exhibit their brands for purchase at a Fashion Expo on Front Street.

At the expo, the public can meet up-and-coming local designers and get a closer look at collections unveiled for the local designer show on Friday night.

Additionally, Bermuda models will perform a mini-runway show to promote these designers’ pieces.

The expo will provide an intimate showcase to view, sample, and shop Bermudian-designed favourites, according to a statement from the Corporation of Hamilton.

The festivities will continue into Saturday evening at the finale, the Fashion Gala.

The glamorous gala attracts a range of guests, from international designers and models to film and television stars.

The celebration will be held at the official festival hotel, the Hamilton Princess, and will be “Old Hollywood” themed.

Event organiser Thomas Lightbourne said ticket holders to the festival shows have been watching “amazing collections come down the runways all week”.

“Now it’s their turn to get all dressed up and celebrate the end of a wonderful week of high fashion.”

The Simons Brothers will kick off the gala with a performance to welcome guests, followed by DJ Rusty G who will bring guests to the dancefloor during and after dinner.

Throughout the gala, signature cocktails and dishes will be served.

Mr. Lightbourne added: “We hope people embrace the opportunity to dress up and come out and enjoy this finale event.”

The expo on Saturday will be held under the tent on Front Street from 11am to 4pm with free admission.

The gala celebrations run from 7pm to 11pm at the Harbourview Ballroom at the Hamilton Princess Hotel for $99.
