A charity appeal to supply school uniforms to families in need notched up almost 200 applicants for assistance by its deadline on Thursday.

Now Gina Spence Productions will be share the love from 11am today at the Berkeley cultural centre, in the old Berkeley Institute building in Pembroke.

Ms Spence, whose charity saw unprecedented demand this year, said she got “an overwhelming response” from the public. Used uniforms were donated, along with school supplies, and $8,500 in cash donations.

She added the appeal’s goal is $14,000 because “the needs and numbers continue to grow”.

The pick-up is from 11am to 5pm today, and walk-ins will be accepted, including haircuts.

Donations to the appeal can be made to HSBC account 002-051928-001, or Butterfield account 0601613480018.
