The Salvation Army launches its Christmas Kettle Campaign and holds its annual event with the Kettle Kickoff at Nellie’s Walk in front of City Hall, this Thursday, November 29th, at 12:30 – 1:30 pm. The kickoff marks the beginning of the Christmas Kettle Campaign, as volunteers and representatives give of their time manning kettles at retail stores throughout the island. The funds raised are used to provide food hampers and toys as well as to assist those in need throughout the year.

At the Kickoff event we will hear from the Dellwood School choir, the new Bermuda Teen Idol winner Dakota Tucker, The Salvation Army Brass Ensemble, and special guests who will bring greetings. Businesses, organizations and schools have been invited to tell us what they will be doing to assist us, such as, collecting for the “Fill the Truck” campaign, to be held on Dec. 7th. The kettles will be out beginning December 3rd this year, and all funds will remain in Bermuda within communities where they are received. So expect to see Kettles throughout the island and we ask you to support wherever and whenever you can.

The Salvation Army’s iconic Kettle Campaign hopes for an increase in donations this year, as well as an increase in volunteers to man the kettles. Major Sandra Stokes, Divisional Commander for The Salvation Army in Bermuda, said “We are delighted to begin the Christmas season with the Kettle Kickoff. The Army is thankful for the number of organizations, businesses, churches and other groups that come alongside and partner with us. We recognize that we cannot help people unless we have the support of so many in the community. Thank you neighbors and partners of Bermuda for all that you do in helping us to fulfill our mission: meeting human needs and transforming lives in the community.”
