Christmas tree contest

The public is invited to to vote on ten Christmas trees decorated by charities to help raise money for their causes.

Thanks to Sun Life Financial, all ten participating charities will receive a $750 donation and compete for further financial donations.

There is a $1,750 People’s Choice award for the tree that garners the most votes.

Trees will also be judged for first place, second place and third place with a total of $6,000 in cash prizes.

Organiser Suzanne DeCouto said: “Come down and vote for your favourite tree and help a charity win some much needed funds. A special thank you to Washington Properties and Signworx for their sponsorship.”

The trees are located next to the Gibbons Home Store in the Washington Mall.

The charities taking part are the Chewstick Foundation; BMDS Charitable Trust; Aliance Francaise des Bermudes; Bermuda Arts Centre at Dockyard; Association of Filipinos in Bermuda; Casa Dos Acores da Bermuda; Bermuda National Gallery; Portuguese Cultural Association; Bermuda Jump Rope Federation; and Kaleidoscope Arts Foundation.

Voting takes place until December 18 and the winners will be announced on December 20.
