Family Centre hands out hampers

Martha Dismont, executive director for Family Centre

Family Centre has extended its gratitude to all the donors who have helped bring relief to families in need this festive season.

Executive director Martha Dismont said that Christmas is particularly difficult for individuals who struggle to find a sense of home and family.

This year the charity was able to give out more than 85 hampers as well as gifts for children.

Martha Dismont, executive director, said: “It is truly heart-warming to receive so much love and support for the families who are in need.

“The work of Family Centre is to equip families with information, social-emotional counselling, and other tools to overcome obstacles to health and wellbeing.

“Family Centre works with over 250 families per year, and the recent outpouring of support provides a relief to some families who may not have improved their financial status but have worked for many months to change circumstances within the family structure, or family environment.”

Ms Dismont said that even if people are unable to assist the community financially, there were still ways to contribute: “Give of your wisdom, encouragement, and ‘listening ear’ to someone in need.

“As a family, find a family to assist and empower.”
