Police set up essay contest for girls

Middle and senior school girls are invited to take part in an essay contest to mark International Women’s Day.

Participants are to write a 200-word essay answering the question: “What does female empowerment mean to you?”

The contest is being organised by the Bermuda Police Service.

A police spokesman said the aim of the contest is to “encourage young women to aspire to positions of leadership across the island”.

He said that the authors of the best essays will be chosen to work shadow “professional women in key BPS roles on March 8”.

International Women’s Day is marked on March 8 each year.

This year’s theme is #BalanceforBetter.

Entries are to be e-mailed to pmr@bps.bm by 5pm on March 4.
