National football team coach Kyle Lightbourne was the star guest at a feeding programme for the hungry.

Lightbourne, who steered the Gombey Warriors to a famous win over Nicaragua at the Concacaf Gold Cup last month, spoke at the Grateful Bread gathering at Astwood Hall on Church Street.

He said: “Football and events like the Grateful Bread bring us all together in Bermuda.

“There needs to be more of this and people need to talk more about good things like this happening because this is amazing to see.”

He added: “I’m grateful to be asked to come here this evening to see the good things that everyone is doing to help each other on this island. Let’s keep it up.”

More than 50 volunteers served more than 150 people at the monthly event.

Grateful Bread takes place on the last Thursday of each month. For more information, e-mail souterbridge@canterburylaw.bm or call 296-8444
