Knives and Skin for launch of new film series

A theatre in Dockyard is to launch a series of edgy art house films tonight.A spokeswoman for the Media Lounge said the monthly Afterhours series will highlight “soon-to-be cult and art house classics” that take an innovative approach to storytelling.The lounge wanted to create “an unforgettable experience” for those who want to wind down with a movie and a bite, and enjoy some of the best and most bizarre in cinema, a programme that would attract the sophisticated film lover and to the more adventurous.Knives and Skin, nominated for Best Film at the 2019 Berlin Film Festival.The film was said to be a “part suburban nightmare, part neon-soaked teenage fever dream”, which followed the fear and distrust that spreads across a Midwestern town after the disappearance of a girl.Knives and Skin will be screened at 9pm at the Media Lounge, previously the Neptune Theatre, in Dockyard’s Cooperage Building, opposite the Frog & Onion Pub.• Tickets are available in advance at www.medialoungebda.com or can be bought at the door on the night with cash or credit card.
