Covid-19: veterans assured of support
A military veterans' welfare worker said ex-services seniors in need should contact the Bermuda Legion if they needed help during the Covid-19 lockdown.
Carol Everson, a Bermuda Legion welfare case worker, said her “strongest concern” was for “our frail and elderly community of Second World War veterans and widows”.
The charity was set up to give year-round support to almost 150 veterans or widows.
Ms Everson said any veterans or widows living at home or in care homes who needed help should get in touch.
She added: “We will step in to help wherever we can.”
The charity can be contacted by e-mail at nosoldierleft behind@hotmail.com or by phone on 234-1880.
Benefits available to war veteran's are listed on the government website.
Ms Eversion said that the legion had planned to hold another dementia caregivers course in April or May, but had postponed it until further notice.
