Staff at the island’s largest supermarket chain have been kitted out with personal protective equipment to help combat spread of Covid-19.
A spokesman for The MarketPlace said staff at the stores and its PriceRite locations had been given face shields and medical-grade face masks.
He added: “We require not only our customers, but our associates to wear face masks while working and have provided them to our entire workforce at no charge.”
The spokesman said that gloves, which were provided, were optional for workers “unless their position required them”.
He added: “Every associate has also been provided with a bottle of hand sanitiser.”
Seth Stutzman, the president of The MarketPlace group: “They’re on the frontline working incredibly hard and their health, safety and wellbeing is my No 1 job.”
