Collie Buddz in online raft-up spat with Burt
Bermudian reggae star Collie Buddz got into an online spat with David Burt after the singer complained about the ban on raft-ups because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The singer, whose real name is Colin Harper, wrote to the Premier on Saturday on Twitter and said: “@BermudaPremier Can you explain no raft ups? 20 people gathering but no raft ups. Out in the sun, fresh air and salt water.
“Businesses are struggling. People are jobless. No one’s allowed to have fun okay guys!”
The Premier questioned what raft-ups had to do with struggling businesses.
He added: “Mr Harper, there is a pandemic. I want a raft-up as much as anyone else, just like I want to attend Cup Match. Problem is it’s not safe!”
Mr Burt added: We’ve opened up many businesses and airport faster than many islands.”
Mr Burt told the singer that the more people who contracted the disease, the less likely it would be that businesses would be allowed to reopen and that tougher restrictions may have to reintroduced if there was a spike in Covid-19 cases.
