Pandemic aid package Bill to be tabled

A lifeline for people in need of financial aid because of the Covid-19 pandemic will be unveiled in the House of Assembly tomorrow.A spokesman for the Ministry of Labour said it would “ensure that individuals still in need of financial aid are transitioned to long-term support”.An emergency unemployment benefits programme started on March 24, at first for 12 weeks, but later extended to 16 weeks. But the 16-week period is due to end. The spokesman said: “Plans will be relayed directly to recipients and outlined in the House of Assembly on Friday.”
