Survey: pandemic leads to more family time

The Covid-19 pandemic had a silver lining for some because it allowed people to spend more time with their families, a survey released yesterday found.Almost one third — 31 per cent — of people canvassed said isolation at home and social-distancing meant they had extra time with their loved ones. The survey, carried out by Total Research Associates, also found that 10 per cent of those surveyed said they had more time for themselves or hobbies.A total of 8 per cent said they appreciated the slower pace of life forced by lockdown conditions and five per cent said it had given them a greater appreciation for life.Others — 4 per cent — said they had developed a healthier lifestyle over the crisis and the same percentage said they had spent less money. The TRA survey was carried out by phone between June 3 and 15 among a random sample of 400 people aged 18 or older. The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9 per cent.
