Motorcyclist, 21, killed in collision

A motorcycle rider died after his bike was in collision with a car yesterday.

A police spokesman said: “Details are limited at this time. However, it appears that a motorcycle and a private car were involved.

“The motorcycle rider, a male, was found unresponsive but breathing when police and other first responders arrived at the scene.”

The 21-year-old suffered multiple fractures as well as other injuries and was taken by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment, but died soon after.

The accident happened east of the junction of Vesey Street and Middle Road in Devonshire at about noon.

It was the island's third road death this year.

The spokesman said that a family liaison officer had been assigned to the man's family.

A 67-year-old woman who was driving the car was uninjured.
