Tourism summit to discuss Covid-19 fightback

The impact and recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic is to be the focus of the annual Bermuda Tourism Summit next week.The summit, organised by the Bermuda Tourism Authority, has the theme “Reset, Reimagine, Renew: Agility in Focus”.The BTA said the summit will be staged as a physical event with virtual connections between two venues to encourage industry engagement and fulfil pandemic safety requirements.The event will be held from 8.30am until 4.30pm on October 16 at the Hamilton Princess Hotel and Rosewood Bermuda. Organisers said all physical presentations would be made be at the Hamilton Princess, but individual MCs at both locations would ensure a good virtual connection between audiences, speakers and discussion panels.The summit will include sessions on travel sentiment and visitor views, the reset of the National Tourism Plan.Plans to attract more black people as visitors will also be discussed and there will be a special cruise and air travel panel.Glenn Jones, the interim CEO of the BTA, said: “Bringing our industry together to examine trends, plan strategies and share useful tools for recovery is even more important this year, and we look forward to welcoming stakeholders and guests.”The BTA said the summit is open to everyone.Advance registration, which costs $40, will be by Mastercard or Visa credit card only.The fee includes access to seminars, lunch and refreshments.Registration will close next Wednesday.The agenda for the meeting can be found at https://www.gotobermuda.com/sites/default/files/bta_tourismsummit2020_schedule_v4_oct2020.pdf To register, visit events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/event?oeidk=a07ehbw1su6b6d8c55c&llr=ixm5fkqab
