The lights have gone out on yet another floodlit soccer fixture.

Just 24 hours after Somerset Cricket Club announced it would be indefinitely suspending night matches at its west end ground because of problems with the lights, St John's Field has pulled the plug.

The venue, home of Dandy Town, had been scheduled to put on the women's division match between Hemisphere and Rude Girls and a Premier League fixture between the Hornets and Somerset on Friday night.

However, the Bermuda Football Association said yesterday the matches would not be able to go ahead as planned.

Charles Clarke, chairman of competitions at the BFA, said the problem was not as acute as the one at Somerset.

"Dandy Town have requested a little more time to make sure their lights are working properly," Clarke said. "I allowed them to do so because some of the poles were brand new and some of the wires had just been put down. They thought that two days was not enough time in the event of there being any faults for them to make the necessary adjustments."

Clarke said a new date had been pencilled in.

"Those games are tentatively rescheduled for either Wednesday October 17 or Friday October 19," he said.
