Bermuda's chances look good
has the ability to do well in the Bermuda Cup women's international soccer invitational which kicks off at BAA field this evening.
The opening match-up will have Bermuda A playing Gettysburg College at 7 p.m.
while the second game matches Bermuda B against Messiah College at 9 p.m.
"We don't know anything about these teams but the Bermuda A team can do well if we just keep our heads,'' said midfielder Trott.
"Most of our players represented Bermuda at the Pele Invitational in Atlanta last summer and while there we learned how physical a lot of the American teams were. We matched them in size but they played hard and they came running at you. So we must be ready for them,'' she added.
She feels the team have gained invaluable experience from matches against the many college teams who have visited Bermuda in the past two years, including the recent one in April by Mount Allison University Mounties who played four games. The Mounties were third in their eight-team conference last year and fielded several all-star players.
Bermuda A held them to a 1-1 draw in the first game and then beat them 1-0 in the second.
Trott, who has only recently replaced centreback Earlene Wilkinson as skipper, feels that her team will be nearly as potent as the one which went to Atlanta even though key players like Chevonne Furbert and Keeona Saunders have returned to school abroad.
