Champions Hotels in seventh heaven
Hotels finally secured the Second Division title that has been theirs for the taking all season, strolling past overmatched Prospect at St.John's Field yesterday.
To their credit the visitors were able to hold their own in the first half, as the two sides reached the interval locked 1-1.
But the floodgates opened in the second half as Hotels plundered six goals to seal the win, championship and promotion to the First Division in their first year back in local soccer, having folded at the end of the 1992-93 season.
Zaine Bolin gave the home side a 16th minute lead, before Lawrence Holder equalised three minutes later.
Ricky Hill tallied the first of his three six minutes after the restart and Chris Sabir and Craig Critchlow converted in the 60th and 70th minutes to make it 4-1 In the 77th minute Hill again found the net, before Prospect forward Dwayne Leverock again reduced the deficit immediately afterwards.
Hill completed his hat-trick with an 84th minute strike and Critchlow rounded out the scoring with an 85th minute goal.
The win gave Hotels an impregnable five point lead over second placed Somerset, who have played a game more -- 15 compared to 14 for Hotels -- while Wolves, currently third, have 28 points from 14 matches.
Som. Eagles 1 Somerset 4 Somerset Trojans kept their Second Division promotion hopes alive with this emphatic three-goal victory over their arch rivals at White Hill.
Scoring for the visitors were Shawn Riley, Duval Binns, Everett Wellman, with Bridge defender Jerome Richards contributing an own goal. The lone goal for Eagles came from Dion Minors.
Ham. Parish 4 Social Club 1 Parish came back from 1-0 down at the half to score a comfortable win at Wellington Oval. Verda Burgess, Shawn Smith, Chris Caisey and Leroy Robinson all scored for Parish in the second half, giving them their fourth win of the season.
