Campbell clocked 32 minutes and four seconds to take top honours.

Campbell, in Bermuda to participate as a late entry in the Heritage Track Meet on Friday, was upstaged, however, by Maria Conroy-Haydon who established a course record for women by finishing in 36:50 and was eighth overall. The previous record was set in 1990 by Sandra Mewett in 37:13.

Campbell, who boasts a personal best time of 28:50 over 10 kilometres, had made it clear he would be taking it easy since he ran a similar race under tough conditions a week ago.

Kevin Tucker, who has found himself running behind Brett Forgesson for most of the year, placed a strong second in 33:51. Forgesson did not participate in the event. Third overall was Jamal Hart, who was clocked in at 35:14.

The race, a final tune-up for the May 24 Marathon Derby, was further proof that Conroy-Haydon will be a major force later this month. She was narrowly beaten last year by Anna Eatherley, who has taken a break from running.

Also missing yesterday was Marathon Derby champion Kavin Smith, who has been a mysterious no-show in recent weeks.

Second in the women's division was Jennifer Fisher, who completed the race in 39:07.

Rod Allen was first among male masters in 35:38 and was also a strong fifth overall. Close behind was Harry Patchett, enjoying a solid year, in 36:11.

Third in the category was Jeremy Ball in 38:13.

First among female masters was Margaret Young Lever (45:38), followed by Caroline Jones (47:16) and Debby Graham (50:54).

Top male and female seniors were Robert Oliver (44:22) and Peggy Couper (44:05).
