Cooper stars in Canadian dinghy races
regattas in Canada.
The 20-year-old recently made her Europe Dinghy debut in Ontario with two impressive performances.
On Mother's Day, while competing in a two-day regatta in Hamilton, she placed first in a small fleet of boats and then last weekend during a three-day regatta in Toronto -- the Ts and CC Icebreaker -- she again triumphed in a four-boat fleet that included Canada's top laser sailor Tanya Warton.
During the three-day series, Cooper raced to five firsts and a third to take overall honours.
Cooper will stay in Canada this summer to attend various clinics and regattas.
And she also hopes to work as an instructor at the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club in Ontario.
Cooper recorded a `first' at home last year when she was appointed the first official female skipper of a fitted dinghy, taking charge of Echo .
A student at McMaster University in Hamilton, she has represented Bermuda at two Youth Worlds -- once in Portugal (teaming up with Liz Walker) in the Laser IIs class and in Greece where she sailed a laser single-handed.
