Cricket testimonial venue switched
overseas players with Test experience. But this year's event will have one major change.
Organisers announced this week that the popular event would be switched to Somerset Cricket Club from St.David's where it has been held for the last two years. The match will also be brought forward to September 13 from September 27 and a change of format will see only former players take part.
Committee member St. Clair (Brinky) Tucker said the changes were being made because of public demand.
Names of the overseas players have not yet been revealed, although one is reportedly from Barbados. Both will be announced in the next few weeks, said Tucker. Last year Phil Simmons of the West Indies and England's Phil DeFreitas were the invitees.
Recently a sum of $1,000 from last year's event was presented to the Bermuda Cricket Board of Control to help finance the forthcoming Youth International Tournament.
