Title sponsor Ace Insurance Limited's vice president Madeline Joell said the event had more than 100 volunteers, but needed 400.

"We have over 100 residents who have come forward to help with the golf tournament itself, and we have no doubt that by the end of this month we will have reached our quota of 400,'' Ms Joell said.

She pointed out that the tournament depended on an extensive volunteer network to keep costs down and raise the maximum funds for the designated charities.

The Catalog for Giving and The Council Partners Charitable Trust will split what organisers hope will be some $250,000 in proceeds.

To date an array of celebrities have signed up to attend the May 9 to 11 event, including Waiting to Exhale's Angela Bassett, Joshua Morrow who plays Nick Newman on the daytime soap opera the Young and the Restless and Alfonso Ribeiro of the television show Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Advertisements announcing the names of other stars have been appearing in The Royal Gazette during the past few months and Ms Joell said additional advertisements for four more stars will appear every week leading up to the tournament.
