North Village 6 Southampton 0

relegated to the Second Division, Southampton Rangers instead suffered one of their most humiliating defeats of the season when they were decisively beaten by the Red Devils at Bernard Park.

It was not as though North Village were seeking revenge after a decision by the BFA on Saturday meant that their hopes of winning the First Division title had been lost, Southampton's leaky defence simply handed the home team too many chances.

North Village had built a deserved 2-0 lead at the half on goals by Kevin Jennings and Sean Dill. Then they added four more after the break through skipper Elliott Jennings, Dill and substitutes Anthony Davies and Tillman Darrell.

Gary Darrell, coach of Southampton, was baffled by his team's defending and knew of no reason why they folded like they did.

Jennings put Village ahead after 11 minutes when he scored from 14 yards and Dill got the second after 40 minutes when he tucked home a cross from Phillip Clarke.

While Village were clearly the sharper of the two during the period between the goals, Southampton had two chances with Ascento Russell and Pernell Brangman putting shots wide.

The biggest miss though came from an injured Erskine Brangman after 38 minutes. The centre-half was put into the attack after sustaining an injury and was in position to grab the equaliser but he poorly directed a header from an Alfred Wolffe cross straight into the arms of goalkeeper Dwayne Adams from just a few yards.

But most chances during the half fell to Village with Kentoine and Elliott Jennings slamming shots over from just outside the penalty box and Dill putting two wide.

North Village took a commanding 3-0 lead after 52 minutes when goalkeeper Randy Darrell advanced to block Kevin Jennings only to have the ball deflect into the path of Elliott Jennings who gratefully scored from close range.

After 82 minutes Dill made it 4-0, Davies got the fifth after 84 minutes and Darrell rounded off the scoring a minute from the end.
