Organisers for the resurrected Maple Leaf 10-K are hoping most of the prominent runners will use Sunday's race in the west end as a vital build-up

Joe Pagnam, race director, admitted that entries were slowly being submitted but reckoned that he expected around 150 to be participating in the event, which will start in Dockyard at 9.30 a.m.

The race was originally scheduled for April 10 but was cancelled after it was learned that the new organisers Hamilton Harriers had folded.

The Bermuda Track and Field Association is sanctioning the race and the event is part of the KPMG road racing series. Air Canada is the new sponsor and has put up a winning prize of a round trip for two to any North American destination that it services.

Maria Conroy Haydon has confirmed that she will be defending the women's title while a new champion in the men's division is a certainty since Mark Perry is unable to defend his title because of an injury.

The course will see the runners starting in the area of the Clock Tower and travel east and then along the main road past Casemates straight into Mangrove Bay.

After making the right turn onto Mangrove Bay Road they will turn left on to Tween Walls, left on to Cambridge Road and then left on to Main Road where they will head back to Dockyard and to the finish line.
