Robinson double rocks Boulevard

North Village roared their way back into the thick of the Coca Cola First Division leadership race last night as they made mincemeat of a jaded Boulevard team in this make-up match at Devonshire Rec.

Twice postponed through inclement weather, the game was one which Boulevard probably wished had been called off again as they were run roughshod by a Red Devils side spearheaded by dangerman Dennis Robinson.

The striker enhanced his reputation as one of the league's top marksman with two well taken goals in the first half, followed by a goal each from Elliott Jennings and Sean Dill in the second half.

Robinson used pace in the 32nd minute to nip behind the defence and lob a well timed pass by Jennings over goalkeeper Hewvonnie Brown.

Barely had the Village spectators settled when Robinson struck again, this time from a free kick 22 yards out. Brown was able to play a bit part as the thunderous shot ricocheted off the crossbar against the young 'keeper and back across the goal-line.

Seconds into the second half Jennings took advantage of a defensive error to rocket home a volley from 35 yards out, while Dill carved up the Blazers' defence in the 56th minute for the final score.

Stevie Wade got a consolation tally in the 67th minute after a fine build-up in midfield by Neil Robinson.
