Saltus rule the pool
Championships, winning the boys section outright, while the girls were forced into a tie with Bermuda High School (BHS).
In fact, the victory by the Saltus boys marked the 18th consecutive title won by the Pembroke school and they did so in convincing fashion, reaching the wall first in 25 of 28 events.
No age group was spared either, as they seized the top spot among the under 13, under 15 and over 15 categories.
Established along the way was a new standard in the inaugural 150 metre open crescendo relay, which involved two swimmers from each age group swimming 25 metres.
Double gold medallists on the male side were Paul Fox (under 13), Stephen Troake (under 15), William Massey (under 15) and Commonwealth Games competitors Stephen Fahy (over 15) and Trevor Ferguson (over 15).
Meanwhile, the competition among the females was much closer, with BHS and Saltus sharing overall honours even though Saltus won both the under 13 and over 15 groups. BHS won the under 15 title.
No records were broken although, as in the case of the boys section, a new mark was established in the crescendo relay which provided much in terms of excitement.
During the race, Saltus held the lead over BHS heading into the final leg only to watch as the latter's Zoe Roberts produced a stunning burst to eclipse Saltus' Samantha Adams by a mere two-hundredths of a second.
Roberts, Caroline Black and Abigail Madeiros each won two individual gold medals.
