Senior honours for Redford, Wildi
Championship at Riddell's Bay Golf Club yesterday by a stroke.
After a modest 77 in the first round on Wednesday, Redford followed up with a 74 to take honours in the gross division and finish with a two-round score of 151.
Finishing second on 152 with rounds of 78 and 74 was former winner Noel Van Putten.
The pair made surges up the ladder and overtook first-round leader Peter Tucker with ease. Tucker, last year's winner, who led by three strokes after his opening round of 72, struggled and finished down in the field after a disappointing 86 yesterday.
Another former winner Jack Wahl also failed to make inroads in the final round after following up Wednesday's 75 with an 80.
Following Redford and Van Putten home yesterday were David DeCosta 154, Wahl 155, Adrian Crockwell 155 and Roderick Simons and Eldon Raynor on 156. Tucker had a 158.
Redford was also the net winner with a 131 while Bill Black was second on 134.
In the women's division, four-time winner Shirley Wildi snatched gross honours with a two-round score of 160. She followed up her first round of 76 with an 84 yesterday.
Despite the modest performance in the final round, Wildi still managed to finish 15 strokes ahead of closest rival Gill Riihiluoma who posted a 175 after rounds of 86 and 89.
Nea Willits was the net winner with a 138 followed by Jeane Perkins on 143.
Mary Gosling was third on 144 and Wildi fourth on 146.
