Talbot falls to former champion
bounced out of the World One Armed Golf Championships in the first round of match play competition at Carnoustie in Scotland.
Entering the day as the second best qualifier, Talbot got a tough draw in the form of four-time winner Andy Robinson of England.
The pair battled neck and neck for much of the match but it was Robinson who eventually prevailed by a score of two and one, having never trailed in the match.
But Talbot was never behind by more than two holes and did draw even on more than one occasion.
"It was a close and very good match really,'' said Talbot, himself a former two-time winner of the event. "He got a lot of breaks where I didn't.
"I think I played the best that I've played since I've been here, but I just had tough luck. I couldn't have played any better, but he played really well.
"If he plays like he did against me he'll beat anybody.'' Not even the presence of Bermuda cricket legend Clarence Parfitt could turn the tide in favour of Talbot.
Parfitt lives near the course, located just north of Edinburgh, and travelled down to support his fellow countryman.
Talbot expressed delight at having Parfitt follow him on the course and said that the pair would be spending some more time together during the next few days.
Meanwhile, Robinson went on to win his second match of the day to reach the semi-finals where he faces Scotland's Brian Crombie.
The other semi-final sees defending champion Mike Benning take on Dave Parsons.
