Wade calls BFA biased

Bermuda Football Association after he was suspended for three matches following a disciplinary hearing this week.

In a letter addressed to the sports editor the fiery forward regarded the BFA's decision as being "biased'' and classified the association as being run by a group of "has beens'' which is discouraging players from concentrating on their game effectively.

Wade, who this season joined his present club after moving on from Devonshire Cougars, was charged with bringing the game into disrepute after alleging to have thrown punches at a spectator who had reportedly thrown beer on him during a Martonmere Cup game against PHC at Somerset Cricket Club in October.

The player however has denied throwing the punches while referee Frank Drayton reported only that the player went off the field to attack a spectator.

In his letter, Wade claimed that the BFA discourage players from concentrating on their game effectively by "supporting referees who allow players to kick up one another and suspending players who defend themselves from spectator attacks.'' Wade questioned what defence does a player have when the player is attacked by a spectator like he was.

His letter added: "The following lesson must be taught to the BFA. Instead of suspending a former Bermuda national squad player they could have used time wisely by protesting to FIFA about the Bermuda v El Salvador when a player was struck with a battery. This could have gained Bermuda two points they desperately needed in the World Cup.'' Wade has apparently been persuaded to express his views in the form of a letter after the BFA stated that there are no grounds for an appeal.

Dandy Town have already indicated their displeasure over the BFA's decision to suspend the forward through club official George Brown.
