Eleven-year-old Kyme, who trailed two games to nil before winning in the first round, captured the under-13 title 0-9, 9-6, 9-2, 9-1 over John Schiffer in the Baird E. Haney Junior Soft Ball Tournament at the Casino Heights Squash Club in Brooklyn, New York.

In the semis, Kyme beat the second-ranked player in the US, Alan Lehman, 1-9, 9-6, 9-7, 8-10, 9-7. The matched last two hours yesterday morning and Kyme played the final soon after.

Mel Caines was the other Bermudian to compete at the tournament, which hosted 135 players, but he went out in the quarter-finals of his under-19 age group.
