A total of 13 club swimming records were broken during Sharks Swim Club's 10th annual club championships, which saw a record turn-out at the Warwick Academy

Two swimmers set eight of the records between them as Jessica Sousa in the girls 9-10 age group broke four records, in the 50 metres fly in 41.18 seconds, 50 metres backstroke in 41.88 seconds, 50 metres freestyle in 37.22 seconds and 100 metres individual medley in 1:35.16.

William Massey was equally outstanding in the boys 11-12 where he set four new club records, in the 50 metres butterfly in 30.14 seconds, 50 metres backstroke in 36.22 seconds, 50 metres freestyle in 27.90 seconds and 100 metres individual medley in 1:20.07.

Other records were broken by Karen Blanchette in the girls 15 and over as she set a new record in the 50 metres breaststroke with her time of 37.81 seconds and the 50 metres freestyle in a time of 31.25 seconds.

Laura Farge (girls 11-12) set a new mark in the 50 metres freestyle with a time of 33.40 seconds while Tamika Williams (girls 13-14) broke the 50 metres freestyle mark with her time of 30.42 seconds. Alicia Mullan in the girls 15 and over swam to a record time of 1:17.37 in the 100 metres individual medley.

Trophies and shields will be awarded to the following overall age group winners: Girls: Jennifer Roberts (eight and under), Jessica Sousa (9-10), Laura Farge (11-12), Tamika Williams (13-14) and Alicia Mullan (15 and over). Boys: Jesse Marshall (eight and under), Jason Titterton (9-10), William Massey (11-12).

BOWLING BOW Dean Lightbourne led Pembroke Juniors to a 24-3 win over Warwick Whites in the Mott's Sportsmen's League when he rolled the top series and game of 667 and 278.

Juniors got on the team honours list with their second high series of 2,826 and third high game of 945. Antoine Jones supported Lightbourne on the individual list with his second high series of 623 and third high game of 236.

Buy and Sell beat Mini Forwarders 211 -51 as Jim Godwin rolled a 611 third high series and 238 second high game. Buy and Sell had the third high series of 2,727 and second high game of 974.

Social Club claimed top team honours with their 2,848 series and 989 game on their way to a 23-4 win over Warwick Reds. Kendall Minors led Social Club with a 606 series and 234 game.

In the other game, Sparks hammered Young Blood 22-5.

Saturday's schedule: Buy and Sell v Warwick Reds; Sparks v Pembroke Juniors; Mini Forwarders v Young Blood; Social Club v Warwick Whites.

Kevin Minors rolled a men's high series of 669 and high game of 226 but it was not enough to prevent D&D Rollers from beating Dolphins 4-0 this week in Mixed Majors bowling league play.

Wayne Kelly led D&D Rollers with a men's second high series of 551 while team-mate Pat Bell had a women's third high game of 192. Minors also had second and third high games of 222 and 221 for the losers.

E&C Well Drilling beat Troublemakers 4-0 behind Sam Santucci who had a men's third high series of 536. Helena Rawlins had a women's third high series of 541 for the losers.

Strikers defeated Untouchables 4-0 with Margie Lynch bowling a women's high game of 230 and Gerry Waldron having a 546 high series, second best of the night for the women. Other games saw Last Minutes beat Mix-Ups 4-0 and Dynamic Four best B's and G's 4-0.

This week's schedule: Last Minutes v B's and B's, D&D Rollers v Strikers, Dolphins v E&C Well Drilling, Mix-Ups v Troublemakers, Dynamic Four v Untouchables.

TABLE TENNIS PP Mansfield Smith was returned as president when the Bermuda Table Tennis Association held its annual general meeting recently.

Mike Lindo replaced Dennis Pearman as vice-president while Rawle Frederick is the secretary and Aaron Spencer the treasurer. Club representatives are Andrew Smith of The Centre, Egbert Levine of Southampton Princess, Roderick Masters of Hamilton Parish and Cal Butterfield of Police.

The league will open on Saturday, October 3, with the top 10 players from last year competing in a round robin competition. The league proper will start on October 6 and the draw for the first night's play will be made next Tuesday night at The Centre starting at 7 p.m.

All clubs are asked to send representatives as that night will also be the deadline for teams to confirm their participation in the league for the season. Teams should confirm prior to the 7.00 draw.

TENNIS TEN The champions in all but one of the divisions in the Commercial Tennis League have been determined, leaving a play-off between Bank of Bermuda II and Lanier to determine the Division II winners.

Bank of Bermuda I pipped Formula Shell to win Division I while Freisenbruch Meyer were runaway winners in Division III. Stockholm narrowly beat ACE for the divisional trophy in the Fourth Division.

The end of season knockout competition takes place at the Tennis Stadium on Saturday starting at 9am and will be followed at 6.30 by the prizegiving and supper.

CRICKET CRI The Bermuda Cricket Board of Control will hold its annual prize presentation at Warwick Workman's Club next Thursday starting at 7.30. Guest speaker is Minister of Youth, Sport and Recreation, Pamela Gordon, and club officials and players are invited to attend. Dress is smart casual.

SOCCER SOC Hamilton Parish will be holding soccer training for their Minor and Bantam division teams at Shelly Bay field at 4.30 p.m. today.
