Adams uncertain on his future

North Village, Bermuda international goalkeeper Dwayne (Streaker) Adams said he was still unsure about his playing future.

It was only weeks ago that Adams shocked club members and supporters with his bid to sever ties and varying reports had the young 'keeper linked to First Division sides Vasco and BAA.

However, yesterday Adams noted that he had not yet signed with any other team and was unsure when and if he would.

"I don't know what I'm going to do,'' said Adams from his home. "This release deal is something new and I need to look at my options. But I'm keeping them all open and there are several possibilities.

"As a matter of fact I'm still considered a part of Village, they haven't signed my release form yet.'' When asked if a return to Village was a possibility he exclaimed: "It's an option.'' Meanwhile, top Red Devils' officials are said to be in arms over this apparent slap in the face by Adams after the club had "gone out on a limb for him'' when he was suspended near the end of last season.

It was Adams who stood at the centre of a controversy with the BFA -- more specifically technical director Burkhard Ziese -- over his absence from two national team training sessions.

Adams was banned from playing in an all important league fixture against eventual champions Dandy Town. However, the club and the player defied the ban and Adams played in the match which Village won 2-0, only to be deducted the points.

It is clear that Village intend to contest any move by Adams and may even request monetary compensation from the team that gets him.

Ironically, rumours are rife that Adams is one of several players being `lured' by financial incentives which belies the amateur tradition of soccer in Bermuda.

Adams is said to have been offered in the region of $5,000, while $4,000 is said to be the figure Vasco has dangled in front of former Village team-mate Kentoine Jennings. Mark Ray, who played for Devonshire Colts last season, could make a bundle if reports of him being promised $200 per match are accurate.

On the way out from Vasco is Ricky Mallory, who was due to sign on at PHC where his father and uncle once played.
