After a tumultuous two days where various opinions were bandied about in both the print and electronic media regarding the suspension of goalkeeper Dwayne

Village had initially promised to release a public statement as to why they had chosen to field the 21-year-old 'keeper, who had been declared ineligible, during Sunday's crucial Coca-Cola First Division match against Dandy Town which they won 2-0.

However, president Rudolph Hollis told The Royal Gazette that it had been decided during a meeting of the club brass to hold off on any detailed comment until they had had a chance to meet with relevant parties at the Bermuda Football Association.

"All I can say at this point in time is that we've met and sent a letter to the BFA asking that the situation be addressed,'' said Hollis. "The BFA has said a lot of things publicly, but we would like to meet with them first before making any such statements.'' Meanwhile, BFA administrative assistant David Sabir simply said that "nothing's changed''.

He did point out that the matter would be sorted out expeditiously, especially with the outcome of any disciplinary action likely to have a great impact on the outcome of the division title.

It was announced almost two weeks ago by BFA technical director Burkhard Ziese that Adams had been banned indefinitely -- in accordance with a new FIFA rules -- from participating in all domestic competitions for failing to attend two training sessions with the Bermuda national squad.

However, Village defied the ruling by including Adams in the starting line-up three days ago.

And in winning the match Village moved to within a single point of leaders Town and they could could capture the title...if they are allowed to keep the points.

Any forfeiture automatically results in Town becoming league champions for the second time in the club's history.

Bermuda international Shawn Goater responded to being dropped by Rotherham United, to make way for the recalled Imre Varadi, by scoring as a substitute in Saturday's home match against promotion-chasing Stockport.

However, the 54th-minute goal by the striker, failed to prevent Rotherham from losing 2-1 at home. Stockport, who took the lead in the 45th minute, scored the winner 12 minutes from the end. The loss leaves Rotherham close to the relegation zone in the Second Division.

Meanwhile, Kyle Lightbourne's Walsall kept up their hopes of a play-off spot in Division Three with a 3-0 home win over second-from-bottom Darlington.

Lightbourne started the match but did not score.

Both Goater and Lightbourne will be returning to Bermuda after this weekend's games to play in Bermuda's friendly with the United States B team next Tuesday.
