Alger breezes to victory: Bermuda Brief

triumphant return to the Island's tennis scene yesterday when he crushed American Paul Gallowitsch 6-0, 6-0 before a large rain-soaked crowd in the opening round of the Bermuda Lawn Tennis Club Invitational at Coral Beach.
The Island's current number one Michael Way, who is seeded to meet Alger in Saturday's final, made short work of Graham Boyle, winning 6-2, 6-3, while third seed Greg Frigerio defeated Wick Sollers 6-2, 6-0.
Way and Frigerio will be in action today against Russell Day and Wilfred Gonsalves while local pro Mark Cordeiro faces the hard-serving Alger.
