All-Stars, Wanderers to clash in final
All-Stars surged into the final of the Commercial Division KO Cup with a 3-1 thumping of Forties on Saturday.
A late first half strike by Dwayne Cox after being set up by Sandy Thomas started All-Stars along the way, while two goals from Jeff Richardson in the second half, including a penalty after Michael Looby was brought down in the area, assured a trip to the final. Forties managed a late consolation goal through Steve Cotton.
Now the task gets more difficult for All-Stars with Group A champions BAA Wanderers standing as the final hurdle.
Wanderers disposed of Fire Service 2-1, the lone Group B survivors giving their favoured opponents all they could handle in the other semi-final.
Mick O'Connell gave Wanderers the lead in the 18th minute only to have Troy Furbert pull Service level four minutes before half-time. The teams battled tooth and nail for most of the second half before Stuart Drake popped up with the winner in the 78th minute.
The Commercial KO Cup final is due to be played on Sunday at 12.00 noon at National Stadium as part of a triple header.
