Championship, relegation and promotion will be foremost on the minds of players and fans this weekend when league action resumes after a week off.

Unquestionably the top match will be at St. David's where leaders North Village travel to take on a Boulevard side that is making hard work of trying to land the league and FA Cup double.

In their last league match, Boulevard were held to a 2-2 draw by bottom team St. David's and on Tuesday night played to another 2-2 draw, in the FA Cup semifinal against Vasco. The replay is Tuesday night at at Somerset at 8 p.m.

Boulevard also needed a replay in the quarter-finals against North Village and those extra matches are not what they need at this stage of the season.

Since they opened the season against Somerset in the Charity Cup last September, Boulevard have played in 27 league and cup matches, a demanding schedule that is starting to take its toll.

Village have still not been able to break the tie at the top that has existed for the last few weeks, for while Boulevard trail two points behind, Dandy Town's are pushing Village hard for the title -- all three teams with four matches remaining.

Town are at home to revived PHC who have climbed to relative safety after languishing near the bottom of the standings all season.

Colts, in fourth place, are at home to St. David's in a match that is not as clear-cut as one would think, especially considering recent performances by the islanders.

Still, they are virtually certain for the drop as they are six points adrift of the eighth placed team and with just four matches remaining. One of those matches is against second-from-bottom Southampton Rangers who badly need to begin winning again if they are to avoid joining St. David's in the Second Division next season.

Presently they trail the three teams in front of them by three points and if they come out of tomorrow's clash with Vasco with at least a point it could set up an interesting finish to the relegation issue.

One of those teams looking anxiously over their shoulders is St. George's who travel to Somerset tonight (8.00 p.m.) to meet the Trojans whom they have already beaten twice this season. A win for the east enders would virtually take them to safety while a Trojans win would keep them in the hunt for a Martonmere Cup spot next season.

The battle for the second promotion spot continues with second-placed Wolves travelling to Police field to meet Prospect and BAA, third, away to Port Royal at White Hill field.

Devonshire Cougars, with a three point lead over Wolves and with two games in hand, are away to Paget at Southampton Oval while Social Club take on Somerset Eagles at PHC Stadium in the other match.

The Second Division make-up match involving Devonshire Cougars and Hamilton Parish will be played next Thursday at Devonshire Rec., at 9 p.m., preceded by the Premier Junior Knock-out Cup between PHC and Somerset.
