exciting end to the first-ever day/night cricket match played in Bermuda on Saturday.

Over 400 fans turned out to witness the historic match, organised by the Paget Lions Club for charity, with the Bermuda Cricket board of Control providing the players.

The victorious Vice-President's XI wore yellow and gold the colours of Australia while the President's XI took on the West Indies look, as they were clad in the maroon and grey.

A tremendous fightback by the President's XI at the end made the match exciting and the crowd was into every single that the Vice-President's side made.

Albert Steede (23) and Andre Manders (24) once had the Vice-President's XI in a position of strength at 86 for two but after Steede top-edged a hook off Arnold Manders where Terry Burgess held a well-judged catch on the long leg it started to get interesting.

Jeff Richardson chipped in with 20 and Clevie Wade made 25 at number seven.

Wade was the seventh out at 144 and the fielding side turned the screws as two run-outs put the pressure on Brangman and Anthony Edwards to provide the last seven runs with just under two overs remaining. Brangman's winning boundary left him on 19.

Burgess took three for 32 for the President's XI and Arnold Manders two for 33 while Noel Gibbons surrendered only 17 runs in his allotted eight overs.

Earlier, Jason Lewis and Charlie Marshall each scored 35 to pace the Vice-President's batting. Dexter Smith, called up to replace injured Bermuda captain Wendell Smith, made 25, acting skipper Arnold Manders 19 not out and Glenn Smith 17.
