DARTS DRT BAA and East End Mini Yacht Club will battle in the final of the team knockout competition in the Ladies Darts League after beating Hamilton Parish and Police East respectively in the semi finals.

BAA beat Hamilton Parish 3-1 while EEMYC edged by Police East 3-2 in the other match.

Meanwhile, RAA are the new champions of the Helen Flood Memorial Tournament, after beating Hamilton Parish 3-1 in the first round and EEMYC 3-0 in the second to advance to the final with St. George's II who beat Police East 3-0 in the first round and last year's champions BAA 3-1 in the second round.

The pair of T.Cartwright and L.Somner overpowered the pair of M.Phillipson and M.Bleeker to take their team to victory.

RUGBY RUG Mariners RFC enjoyed an emphatic victory against a touring side from Providence College at Nationals on Monday night.

Tries by Dave Conway, John Brossard, Gavin Dublin, Mike Foster and John Weale, together with two conversions by Mike McTurk, accounted for Mariners' winning 24-0 tally.

Two days earlier, the tourists suffered a 25-7 defeat at the hands of a Teachers Invitational XV.

SAILING SLG Peter Schneidereit and his Bermuda crew took first place in the racing division (non-spinnaker) at the British Virgin Islands Regatta in Tortola last weekend.

Sailing his J40 Secret Smile to a first, second and sixth was enough to clinch overall fleet honours. Scheidereit and his crew missed out on division honours by a single point.

The three-day regatta included a new racing course, with eight turning marks and shorter legs requiring constant nsail changes and strong crew work. Total course distances were between 16 and 22 miles.

Secret Smile set the fastest corrected time in Sunday's race of 80 yachts to collect her overall win.

Ideal sailing conditions were found with 8-12 knot winds freshening to 22 knots.

Crew boss for the regatta was Phil Wilson, with Buddy Rego and Don Street joining Scheidereit at afterguard. Mike Carey and Dale Saunders were on the foredeck, with Michael Scheidereit, Mark Street, Dana Outerbridge, Jenny Gray and Tom Scmidt completing the picture.

TENNIS TEN Young Adam Smith emerged as the big winner from the recently completed Grotto Bay Junior Open tennis tournament, winning three titles.

Smith won both the Boys 18 and Under and 16 and Under Singles and then teamed up with Glenn Mello to take the Boys 18 and Under Doubles crown.

In the 18 Singles final Smith was able to have his way with Charles Ramsey, triumphing in straight sets 6-4, 6-1. He found the going a bit tougher wghen he faced Chae Powell in the 16 Singles, but still managed to prevail 3-6, 7-6, 6-4 in a thrilling match.

Brien Robinson and Ramsey were the unfortunate victims in the doubles as they were blown away 6-3, 6-1 by Smith and Mello.

Among the girls Katie Davis won the Girls 14 and Under section, easily beating Anna Lopes 6-3, 6-2. Davis was also awarded a special sportsmanship award for her good conduct throughout the competition.

Other winners were David Outerbridge (Boys 14 & Under), Tara Gallagher (Novice 16 & Under), Danielle Paynter (Girls 12 & Under), Claudia Haegele (Girls 16 & Under), R.Hinds (Boys 12 & Under), J.Spearing and R.Matchum (Boys 14 & Under Doubles), Gallagher and S.Adams (Girls 14 & Under Doubles), Catherin Quinn and M.Fullerton (Novice 19 & Under) and Alate Furbert (Novice 16 & Under).
