Determined Colts on course for Boulevard
Martonmere Cup tonight when the popular tournament switches to Somerset Cricket Club for another double-header.
Colts take on Boulevard in the 7.00 opener while league champions PHC meet Dandy Town in the 9.00 nightcap.
Wins for Colts and Town, who play their second matches in the tournament, would give them three points in their respective groups and secure them semifinal places.
Colts, who came from behind to draw 2-2 with Somerset Trojans in their Martonmere Cup opener last week and after their 1-1 draw with PHC on Sunday, could be slight favourites over Boulevard tonight. However, though they have scoring problems Boulevard can never be taken lightly.
Their only goal in two matches of the new season came via the penalty spot through Wayne Richardson in the 2-1 loss to PHC in the Charity Cup. Boulevard were below par against North Village on Sunday and they owe their fans something after that performance.
Dandy Town, too, have struggled in their two matches so far, though they did pick up a win on Sunday against Hamilton Parish.
Putting away their great number of chances has been Town's main problems and if they do not improve in that area tonight PHC are the type of team to make them pay.
The Town front line of Stevie Wade, Carlos Smith and Walter Musson can cause problems for any defence but presently they are wasting too many chances.
Lionel Cann could challenging for a place up front soon, having scored twice in Saturday's 3-0 Alliance Division win over Village.
STEVIE WADE -- Yet to open his acount with Town.
