Edwards won Sunday's benefit tournament at St. George's Golf Club to assist

The winning team carded a 53 to beat out Buddy Wade, Wilfred Outerbridge, Landro Bascome and Melvin Burchall by a stroke. Third on 55 were Janice Symonds, Derwin Smith, Irene Patterson and Michael Madeiros who beat out two other teams by retrogression. They were Mansfield Symonds, Gary Robinson, Keith Hayward and Maxwell Curtis, and Ronnie Furbert, Eric Somner, Dawn Bealing and Gladwin Paynter.

Doug Clark and Ann Madeiros were the men's and women's closest-to-the-pin award winners while William Richardson won the men's longest drive prize and M.Lawrence the women's.

Some $2,013 was raised to assist the national darts team, who are travelling to Florida in October.

CHESS CHS Nigel Chudleigh maintains a half-point lead going into tonight's final round of the Canada Dry Tournament, needing only a draw against Brian Stephenson to take the trophy.

However, if Stephenson wins and Bob Bagley fails to beat George Ben, then Stephenson will be the new champion. The third permutation is if both Stephenson and Bagley win. In that event one of those will win on tie-break.

VOLLEYBALL VOL The Bermuda Volleyball Association is scheduling three tournaments on September 26, October 10 and October 24. The first will be played at Bernard Park and the next two will be at Shelly Bay field.

On September 26, the third annual Taste Great Lite Open will take centre stage, followed by the No Dinks Allowed co-ed tournament on October 10 and the third annual Less Filling Lite Open on October 24.

Those interesting in entering any of the above events should contact Wes Toavs at 292-4478 for an entry forms. Forms plus a $20 fee per team can be mailed to Toavs at P.O. Box HM 1533, Hamilton HM FX or dropped off at Arthur Andersen and Co. on 11 Victoria Street. Deadlines are the Wednesday before the respective tournament.

SOCCER SOC The Bermuda Youth Sports Programme will have its registration for the upcoming season on Saturday.

Registration will be held at the gate of the US Naval Annex in Sandys and at the USNAS in St. George's at the concession stand from 9 a.m. to noon.

There will be two divisions -- between five and eight years old and between nine and 14 years old. Parents are to bring proof of their child's age with them. The fee will be $20 per child.

Registration will also be held on Saturday, September 12, at the same times.

All Boulevard Premier Division players (under 18) are asked to attend a training session today at Victor Scott field (6 p.m.).

TABLE TENNIS PP The Bermuda Table Tennis Assocition will hold a meeting today at The Centre (7 p.m.) for any clubs or organisations wishing to enter teams in the league this season. The association will hold its annual general meeting on September 15, also at The Centre.

CRICKET CRI Southampton Rangers' under-15 team will train tomorrow at the club (5.30 p.m.) in preparation for Saturday's Youth League semifinal against St. David's.
