Five teams strode into the second round of the Alliance Division Knockout Cup on Saturday with Devonshire Cougars leading the way with a 9-2 shellacking of

Michael Pond collected a hat-trick for Cougars while Gilbert Grimes and Richard Martin each registered two goals. Keith and Carlos Smith completed the rout.

Leroy Wilson and John Frias scored consolation tallies for Royal, who started the match with only seven men.

Meanwhile, Somerset thrashed BAA 5-1 with Amal Thomas once again among the goals, scoring twice as did Richard Scott.

Derek Robinson also netted once for the west-enders while Eddie Gladwin struck for the Green Knights.

A more competitive affair saw St. David's edge past North Village 2-1.

Patrick White and Charles Furbert were the marksmen for the Islanders. Wali Salaam found the back of the net for Village.

At Southampton Oval, Gary Williams scorched visitors Hamilton Parish for three goals and Derek Lowe added one in Rangers' 4-0 victory.

In other matches Devonshire Colts blasted Prospect 6-0 and St. George's defeated Dandy Town by default.

POOL POO Undefeated Swinging Doors stayed stayed atop the Bermuda International Pool League based on an emphatic 219-145 win over Sandys Boat Club.

Craig Marks made a perfect 50 for Doors and was joined by Dion Berkeley (47), Dennis Parsons (46) and Gary Bascome (40).

Mike Tatem was high scorer for the boat club with 36 points.

Meanwhile, Queens Club lost just three of 25 games in their 236-133 thrashing of Mariners.

Chance McLean, Trevor (Kidd) Mouchette and Joe Mathias all made 50s and Greg Falzone Wnd wayne Frost kicked in with 46 and 40 respectively.

Gavin Cochran was the lone bright spark for Mariners, including a win against Falzone in his 39.

In the only other match on tap, Vasco scorched the Bermuda Ladies 209-170.

BASKETBALL BAS Bermuda Youth Sports Programme with the YAO will be holding registration for basketball at the US Naval Annex Gate tomorrow and Thursday from 4.30 to 6.30 p.m. The season will run from January to March and the age groups will be five to eight years and nine to 14 years.
