Forties fight their way into the final four
but were given the hardest fight on Sunday as they were joined in the last four by North Village, Safeguard Security and PHC who all scored emphatic victories.
Ten-man Devonshire Stars suffered the most humiliating defeat as they were skittled out for just 10 runs after PHC had piled up a massive 271 for nine declared at PHC Stadium, Braxton Stowe leading the run spree with four sixes and 11 fours in his 89.
Stars crumbled to the lowest ever knockout total in just 6.3 overs with Cal Waldron snapping up six for two and Lyle Millett taking three for seven.
Eight-man St Michael didn't fare much better against joint league champions North Village, tumbling to 39 all out in 9.3 overs and losing by 10 wickets at Warwick Secondary.
Slow bowler Frank Morgan took four for 12 and Cal Dill three for 11 and then Haile Melakot with an unbeaten 28 and Kevin Mallory (13 not out) knocked of the runs in 7.4 overs.
West Indian Association, playing one short, were bundled out for 77 by Safeguard Security who coasted to a seven-wicket victory in the 18th over at Shelly Bay. Skipper Herman James took three for 19 and Craig Cannonier followed up his two for nine by hitting 26 in Safeguard's 81 for three.
In a virtual repeat of the previous week's final league match, which Forties won by three wickets to share the championship with Village, Forties eased home by four wickets with 28 balls to spare against Sandys Sports Club at Malabar.
Openers Michael Corday (34) and Paul Ross (30) gave Sandys a good start with a stand of 69, Michael Bremar hit 28 and then Terry Corday, Jr. lifted the West Enders to 165 for six with an unbeaten 40. Slow bowler James Thomas took the first three wickets and finished with three for 45. A crucial third wicket partnership of 80 between acting skipper Gary Edwards, whose 52 included four fours, and Dave Woodhead (33) laid the foundation for Forties' victory.
Although both fell with the total 111 Gerald Simons carried Forties to the brink of victory by cracking seven fours in his 33 from 18 balls. He was caught when the scores were level but his younger son Rohaan dispatched the next ball for four to seal the victory.
The semifinals, to be played on Sunday, will pit North Village against Safeguard Security and Forties against PHC.
