Goater makes headlines in UK
where his second division club Rotherham have just advanced to the second round of the League Cup.
Goater's name featured in the national Press this weekend, for the second week in a row, following his performance in Saturday's goalless draw against Hartlepool.
Although he did not get on the scoresheet on this occasion, Goater earned a mention for his stunning 73rd-minute header, which was turned over the bar, in spectacular one-handed fashion, by Hartlepool goalkeeper Martin Hodge.
He has also been seen in action on Yorkshire Television, as his goal-scoring prowess captures the public's imagination.
His World Cup goal-scoring record has earned him a growing army of fans in the north of England, with expectations high every time he walks out onto the pitch.
And Goater is happy to accept the pressure to perform well, as he bids to attract the interest of the big clubs.
" I like all the attention,'' he said. "It keeps me in the spotlight.'' Goater's popularity has increased as a result of Bermuda's successful run in the World Cup, and he is looking forward to helping the national team progress further when they start the next phase of their campaign at home to El Salvador at National Stadium on October 18.
Last week, Goater took the opportunity of catching up with news from back home when he travelled to Manchester to watch touring Bermuda cricket champions Devonshire Rec. play a Lancashire and Cheshire XI.
"I know all the lads, so it was nice to have the chance to see them,'' he said.
Devonshire Rec. suffered a narrow defeat in that game, but Goater's club are unbeaten in the league so far this season, and lie sixth in Division Two, just two points adrift of leaders West Bromwich Albion.
Hull were their victims on Tuesday night when they broke the 2-2 deadlock of their League Cup first-round, first-leg meeting, with a 1-0 victory that gave them a 3-2 aggregate win.
Rotherham travel to Burnley on Saturday looking to protect their unbeaten record.
Hereford, with both Bermudian pros Meschach Wade and Kentoine Jennings struggling to overcome injuries, entertain Walsall on Saturday, also with an unbeaten league record to defend.
They will be looking to wipe out the memory of their heavy Tuesday night League Cup defeat the hands of Torquay. Hereford are still hurting from the 5-0 hammering they received, having gone into the second leg with hopes high after a 2-2 first-leg draw.
Hereford, who beat Darlington 1-0 on Friday night, share with Kyle Lightbourne's new club Scarborough a one win, one draw, record in Division Three.
Scarborough, who beat Crewe 1-0 on Saturday, travel to Rochdale this weekend.
Last night, they advanced to the second round of the League Cup with a 5-3 win at Bradford for an 8-3 aggregate triumph.
SHAWN GOATER -- Liking the attention.
