Jackson hat-trick sparks Orioles again
lead pacesetting Police Orioles to a convincing 4-0 win over Cardinals during A League action in the Ladies Hockey Association on the weekend.
Jackson, who netted all three goals in Orioles' 3-2 win over Bluebirds the previous week, was quickly on target again, firing her side ahead before Georgie Adlam made it 2-0.
Cardinals fought back after the interval and were only denied by some superb saves from Orioles' keeper Fiona Day. But it was Jackson who stole the show, hitting home two more goals to complete her hat-trick.
In the other A League match, Canaries took advantage of a weakened Bluebirds' team to run out 2-0 winners. Sandra McDougall gave Canaries a 1-0 lead before the half and Emma Garron added the second after the break.
New club Swallows continued their fast start in the B League, maintaining a perfect record with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Cardinals.
Nicola Wilkinson netted the all-important goal from a short corner won by newcomer Jenny Burrell and although Cardinals battled to the end they couldn't penetrate a Swallows defence well marshalled by Sarah Cook and Janet Adcock.
Ali Cameron again led Canaries in their 3-0 B League win over Bluebirds.
Cameron netted twice in the second half to add to a fine strike from Sam Miller.
