Juggling ace Dill has Scotland interested

Johnstone soccer supporter and may be in line for an apprenticeship with the Scottish Premier Division club.

Regular Bermuda visitor Chick Christie, who has strong ties at St. Johnstone, witnessed the youngster during a training session and duly impressed with his remarkable juggling skills has decided to recommend him to team manager Alex Totten.

"I'll be trying to make the point that he (Dill) is a talent that they could use,'' said Christie, an accident insurance broker. "He seemed to have the physique to do something in football and if he can keep a ball up 6,000 times he may have the stamina to play.'' Actually the 14-year-old juggled the ball 6,128 times without touching the ground during a soccer camp in Pennsylvania back in July, amazing all on hand, especially as the previous record was a mere 2,065.

If talks are successful and a satisfactory agreement is reached between both parties it may be that Dill could take up as an apprentice professional.

Apprenticeships usually entail 16-year-olds being groomed to join the senior team at some stage.

Said Christie: "I'll write to him (Totten) and see if he has any interest at all and something may come out of it.

"If so, it's probable that they would want to see him in action somehow.'' St. Johnstone are currently ninth in the league with just 10 points from 15 matches. They boast one of the country's top goal-scorers, striker Paul Wright, who has 10 of the side's 17 goals.

"The facilities at St. Johnstone are very modern indeed,'' said Christie.

"And the Premier league in Scotland is of a good standard.'' In addition to playing for Wolves, Dill vice-captained a Bermuda Select at the Bermuda Youth Soccer Cup tournament and has appeared on television and during half-time of Bermuda's World Cup home tie against El Salvador displaying his talent.
