League title when they romped to a seven-wicket victory over Sandys Sports

WIA, who lead the standings with maxiumum points from two matches, needed just 14.1 overs to overhaul Sandys' modest 100 total in Sunday's match at the Royal Naval Field.

Openers Patrick Hamlett, with an unbeaten 30, and Chris Graham-Ward (24) put WIA on the path to victory with an opening stand of 39.

Earlier Roy Trotman and veteran George Rock picked up three wickets apiece.

Michael Corday (35) and Terry Ward (29) providing the only real resistance as Sandys lost their last nine wickets for 40 runs.

North Village scored an even more emphatic victory as they raced to an eight-wicket victory in less than 10 overs after dismissing 10-man Devonshire Stars for a paltry 37 at Warwick Secondary.

Pace bowlers Donville Yarde, with five for 21, and Elliott Jennings, with four for two, were the destroyers-in-chief for Village for whom David Scraders hit an unbeaten 20.

Defending champions Forties, unbeaten in the league last season but fielding seven new players, scrambled to a one-wicket victory over St David's in a thriller at Shelly Bay.

Skipper Gordon Campbell, with four for 41 from 16 overs, and Rohaan Simons (three for 46) undermined St David's who struggled to 118, Wayne Frost picking up two for 22. Keith Richardson made 20.

Forties appeared on course for a comfortable victory when they reached 48 for one from 10 overs.

But left-arm medium pacer Jeff Pitcher had other ideas and snapped up six for 61 from 15 overs to leave Forties reeling at 88 for eight after Leon Dickinson had made top score of 31 in his first game for the club.

Ivan Clifford (16 not out) and Simons (10) added 26 for the ninth wicket, but Forties were still five short of victory when last man Oscar Andrade came in.

Then with the scores level Andrade settled it with a top edge for four to fine leg.
