Bristol City clinched a play-off spot in the English Second Division with a 2-0 win over Chesterfield.
Both City's goals came in the first half, Goater opening the scoring and Darren Barnard making it 2-0 from the penalty spot. The win lifted City into fifth place in the standing ahead of Crewe Alexander, who need a point away to York on Saturday to deny Blackpool the final play-off spot. Blackpool have to win at Wrexham and hope Crewe lose.
Brentford and Luton are already in the play-offs which will decide the third promotion spot behind Bury and Stockport who gained automatic promotion.
